Social indicators of health such as poverty, discrimination, gender, race, ethnicity, language, minority, place of residence, immigration, education and health literacy, social class, religion, occupation, income, social activities, stress, addiction, food, access and use of basic health services, urbanization, marginalization, violence, globalization and self-care, and social support and lifestyle led by these factors have a greater role on the health and well-being of human beings, compared to biological factors, but because most of these factors are not understood and they are not converted into demand, they are neglected. The mission of the Center for Research on Social Factors Influencing Health is to pay attention to these factors and determine the basic needs in order to research in the society, and participate with the society to produce the required knowledge for maintaining and improving the general health of the community. In this regard, the center has established 12 research centers in Tehran to move along its mission with a defined community. |
